"Name Your Price" Charity Garage Sale to Benefit Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy
Yorkville High School is hosting its second annual SMA charity garage sale to help those, including a fellow student and a teacher's child, who have been diagnosed with SMA of which there is no known cure.

Yorkville High School is hosting its second annual "Name Your Price" charity garage sale to benefit families affected by Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).
SMA is a Motor Neuron Disease which causes progressive weakness of muscle that are used for walking, moving, breathing, and neck/head control. Eventually both swallowing and breathing are affected by this disease. Currently, there is no treatment or cure.
Yorkville High School is stepping up to raise money for awareness and research funding for SMA. The school itself has affected individuals in their community - student Theresa Eberhardt has Type 1 SMA and Janny Tercs, the son of YHS teacher Aimee Tercs has Type 2.
