Person Shot Near Dakotas Restaurant In Yorkville: PD

Officials said there was no indication of foul play or a criminal act after a person was shot in downtown Yorkville.

YORKVILLE, IL — A person was shot Monday evening near a restaurant's parking lot in downtown Yorkville, police said.

Yorkville officers were dispatched to the area by Dakotas, off Van Emmon and Mill streets, after a 911 call "came in as a person with a [gunshot] wound," police said in an alert at 7:39 p.m. on Facebook.

By 8 p.m., the victim was transported to a hospital and police remained on the scene investigating. Officials said there was no indication of foul play or a criminal act.

In a statement Monday morning, Dakotas staff, an American restaurant at 227 Heustis St., said the business would be closed Tuesday as a result of the incident.

"Due to a very sad and unfortunate incident that occurred near our parking lot last night, we will be closed today," Dakotas said Tuesday morning on Facebook. "Please pray for the families affected by this and our shaken staff."
