Plano Man Who Sexually Assaulted Children Learns Prison Sentence: Weis
The 54-year-old man was convicted earlier this summer of seven counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.

PLANO, IL — A Plano man who was convicted of sexually assaulting two children was sentenced to 35 years in prison, Kendall County State's Attorney Eric Weis said Wednesday.
Luis Gonzalez, 54, was sentenced to seven years in prison for each of the five counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, of which he was convicted by a jury in June.
The Plano man, of the 500 block of Hemmingsen Street, is required to serve 85 percent of his 35-year sentence, meaning he will have served almost 30 years by the time he is eligible for mandatory supervised release.

Judge Jody Gleason determined Gonzalez "did not deserve a minimum sentence in this case," Weis wrote in a news release.

An investigation into the sexual assaults began in October 2019 when two victims disclosed to family, then to investigators, that Gonzalez committed "multiple horrific sexual acts" while they stayed with him in Plano during summer visits, Patch reported.
Weis commended the victims' courage to come forward and share their testimonies in court.
"No child should ever have to endure this, especially from their own family member," he said.
Gonzales is awaiting trial for a second sexual assault case. If convicted, he will be required to serve a prison sentence of natural life, Weis said.
