School Shooting Threat At Yorkville High School Academy: Police

YORKVILLE, IL — Authorities are investigating a school shooting threat at Yorkville High School Academy, police said Wednesday.

The Yorkville Police Department shared a photo on social media of the threat, with the message, “School getting shot up 9/23” written on the wall above a toilet.

Law enforcement was working with school administrators and security to determine who was involved, according to authorities, who said there would be a heightened police presence on campus until the situation was resolved. Police did not have evidence of a legitimate threat as of Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

“This is following an unfortunate trend we have been seeing lately circulating through various social media platforms which has effected our district along with surrounding districts as well,” police said in a social media post. “Please take time to speak with your children about the severity of communicating such things.”
