Team Fooshi Wins YIS Battle of the Books Competition
Teams were asked 12 questions about various books they had read.

For the past few weeks, more than 100 students at Yorkville Intermediate School have been competing in the Battle of the Books Competition.
On Friday, May 10, 5 teams competed in the final battle made up of 4th, 5th, and 6th graders.

After 12 questions, there was a tie between 2 teams.The tiebreaker went to Team Fooshi.
"It was awesome," said YIS Librarian and battle organizer, Laura Kania. The battles were part of a school-wide effort to strengthen reading skills, encourage teamwork and build excitement for reading.

Team Fooshi members include: Veronica Blissit, Ryan Boyd, Alexandria Meyers and Ashley Schulz.
