Yorkville Man Charged With Child Porn Reached Out To Kids: Police

YORKVILLE, IL — A Yorkville man arrested in September on child pornography charges has now been charged with indecent solicitation of a child. The investigation into Jason Leifheit determined he had reached out to minors using electronic communication, the Kendall County Sheriff's Office said.

On Sept. 12, 39-year-old Leifheit was arrested by Kendall County authorities following an investigation that determined he was in possession of child pornography, the sheriff's office said at the time. The investigation began in July, when officers were tipped off to an online account that was supposedly in possession of child porn.

With assistance from the Yorkville Police Department and the Illinois Attorney General's Office High Tech Crime Bureau, authorities executed two search warrants on Leifheit. He was charged with 10 counts of child pornography, including four counts for disseminating or reproducing the illicit materials.

Leifheit, of the 100 block of Bertram Drive in Yorkville, was charged Monday with additional counts in the case, the Kendall County Sheriff's Office said. Those include three counts of indecent solicitation of a child.

The charges stem from alleged electronic communication Leifhart allegedly had with two children, authorities said. Detectives were able to identify one of the subjects as an out-of-state juvenile who never had in-person contact with Leifheit. An investigation into the other alleged case of solicitation is ongoing, authorities said.

Leifheit was working with the Plano Area Special Education Cooperative at the time of his arrest, according to the Aurora Beacon-News. He has been placed on administrative leave.

Leifheit is now charged with a total of 19 counts of child pornography and three counts of indecent solicitation of a child. He is out on $20,000 bond while he awaits his next court date, records show.
