📰 News we're reading
• Meltzer files bill that would allow cities, towns hold municipal elections in even-numbered years (therepublic.com) — Columbus voters could eventually see their mayor and city council races moved to even-numbered years if a new Indiana bill passes, potentially boosting turnout. The proposal from Rep. Jennifer Meltzer would let larger cities like Columbus shift municipal elections to coincide with presidential or midterm contests, where local turnout has historically been far higher than in stand-alone city races.

• Madison edges North in girls wrestling duel (1010wcsi.com) — Columbus North’s girls wrestling team fell 36–24 to Madison, but several Bull Dogs turned in strong performances that should encourage local fans. Leslie Bridges scored a standout pin at 110 pounds, while three lighter-weight wrestlers earned forfeit wins. Coaches say the young roster is steadily improving in positioning, counters, and discipline as the postseason approaches.
