Columbus man arrested for attempting to steal truck and getting stuck in ditch (mojo1029.com) — Columbus police say a local man was arrested after allegedly trying to drive off in a warming pickup on Hege Avenue, only to end up stuck in a ditch and restrained by the owner until officers arrived. CPD is using the incident to remind residents to secure idling vehicles, keep an eye on them in cold weather, and promptly report suspicious activity.

Sylvan Scrapple by After Architecture: Freestanding Nonlinear Log Wall Exhibit (globaldesignnews.com) — A new freestanding timber installation called Sylvan Scrapple has transformed an underused planter between the Visitors Center and library in downtown Columbus into a wooded gathering spot. Created for the Exhibit Columbus biennial, the project reuses local waste wood and salvaged bricks from historic buildings, and has already earned an honorable mention from The Chicago Athenaeum.

Greg Walker of Columbus is among 10 Indiana Republican senators facing 2026 reelection pressure after voting against mid-cycle redistricting, though he’s already said he won’t run again. Party leaders, including President Trump, are backing primary challengers to reshape the GOP caucus, while several senators argue their “no” votes reflect constituents’ opposition to changing maps mid-decade.
