Here are the top stories today in Indianapolis:

  1. A gun discharged during a cleaning in an Indianapolis state office on Wednesday. A law enforcement officer assigned to the Indiana secretary of state’s securities division was cleaning the weapon inside Indiana’s state government complex in downtown Indianapolis when it fired. Nobody was injured, but a spokesman for Republican Secretary of State Holli Sullivan says Indiana State Police is investigating the officer-involved shooting, in accordance with standard procedure. (WISHTV.com)
  2. On Thursday, police recovered more than $100K in stolen items during a raid of an Indianapolis home on the south side. SWAT team officers first showed up at the home on Epler Avenue Wednesday afternoon to serve an arrest warrant, but the suspect wasn't home. Because it’s still an ongoing investigation, police did not release the suspect’s name, but he does have an active warrant for his arrest. Anyone who feels they may have been victimized can contact police for information on how to retrieve their stolen items. (Fox 59)
  3. Meijer has announced that beginning this week, stores in the Indianapolis area will offer free, same-day shipping or pickup on orders costing $35 or more, as a way to help customers balance busy schedules. (Fox 59)
  4. Indianapolis Public Schools reported a 71 percent COVID vaccination rate after offering a $300 incentive. (WFYI)
  5. Chick-fil-A is opening its first location on Indy's east side, at 9961 E. Washington St., near Mitthoeffer Road. (WTHR)
