Here are the top three stories in Indianapolis today:
- A south side animal shelter is in need of supplies to help adoptable dogs and cats. Rosie Ellis opened Rosie's Southside Animal Shelter 32 years ago, and to date, estimates she's saved over 40,000 animals in need. Donations can be shipped or dropped off at the shelter during open hours at 1614 W. Edgewood Ave. (WTHR)
- A COVID-19 surge due to the holidays is keeping the Indianapolis Motor Speedway testing and vaccination site very busy. The IMS site, which has been extended through Jan. 22, performed more than 3,100 tests Monday through Wednesday of last week, and crews administered more than 2,800 vaccines. Among those tested, approximately 15 percent were positive. (WISHTV.com)
- A woman is on life support after a weekend shooting, which has left the LGBTQ community shocked. KeβYahonna Stone was out at a northeast-side nightclub in the Castle Run Shopping Center for a night of fun when she tried to intervene in some kind of fight and was hit by a bullet. Police responded at around 3:00 a.m. to the Epic Ultra Lounge parking lot where the incident occurred, and are investigating what led up to the shooting. (WISHTV.com)
