Here are the top stories in Indianapolis today:

  1. Indianapolis Public Works has started this year's leaf collection, in which leaves are taken to the South Side Landfill for composting. Beginning Monday through Dec. 3, residents can leave up to 40 bags of leaves for pickup per week on their regularly scheduled collection day at no additional cost. Come spring, residents can pick up the mulch at no cost. (WISHTV.com)
  2. Indianapolis-based Energy Systems Network will host another autonomous racecar competition at CES 2022 in Las Vegas. The competition, scheduled for Jan. 7, will include the winner and finalists of the Indy Autonomous Challenge, which took place last month at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. ESN says the primary goal of the competition, like the IAC, is β€œto advance technology that can speed the commercialization of fully autonomous vehicles and deployments of advanced driver-assistance systems.” (WISHTV.com)
  3. Church 52 is offering The Christmas Experience, which supports parents by giving them the opportunity to come shop for their children for free. (WTTV CBS4Indy)
  4. As part of a new partnership, a nonprofit health plan, CareSource, has invested $2.5 million with Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership to create homeownership opportunities for individuals and families experiencing disproportionate wealth and racial disparities in Marion County.   5. An organization of Hoosier vets, INvets, are helping their fellow colleagues in arms to find meaningful employment in civilian life. (CBS 4 Indianapolis)
