Here are the top three stories today in Indianapolis:

  1. On Saturday, the family of the late Da'Vonta White gathered at Dubarry Park to release balloons in his memory. White, age 14, and Isaiah Jackson, 15, were killed in a shooting at the park last Monday; Indianapolis police have not released further information regarding a motive or possible suspects. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call (317) 327-3475 or email Gary.Smith@indy.gov. Anonymous information can also be given to Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477 (TIPS). (WTHR)
  2. An Indianapolis entrepreneur is bringing her French-inspired bakery and restaurant to Disney World. Gwendolyn Rogers, the owner of the Cake Bake Shop, first brought her baked goods to Broad Ripple eight years ago. She will open her third location next year at Walt Disney Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Cake Bake Shop is well-known for its French macarons, handmade cakes, and Swarovski chandelier displays. 3. One hundred years ago in March of 1922, a man named George Tompkins was found lynched in the woods of Indianapolis. While the death was ruled a suicide at the time, a new death certificate has been released, listing Tompkin's death as a murder. Karen Christensen of the Indiana Remembrance Coalition hopes the public acknowledgment of the lynching will help the community move forward on the larger path to justice. (WTHR)
