Here are the top three stories in Indianapolis today:

  1. All 34 firefighters from the Beech Grove Fire Department officially became members of the Indianapolis Fire Department on Christmas. In Sept., the City-County Council approved the proposal to merge the fire departments, which went into effect on Dec. 25. Station 57 is now IFD Station 46, although updates on signage are still to come. (WTHR)
  2. The Old National Centre Downtown Indianapolis is ringing in the New Year with $20.22 concert tickets. Discounted tickets are offered now through Sunday, Jan. 2 at 11:59 p.m., or while supplies last. Discounted tickets are available for over twenty shows that will be coming to Indy in early 2022.   3. IMPD homicide detectives arrested a 23-year-old man Saturday for his alleged role in a deadly shooting on the city's west side in Nov., which took the life of 42-year-old Jeffrey Herald. IMPD Violent Crimes Unit, Federal Air Marshals, and Indianapolis Airport Police arrested Laseanne Strode at the Indianapolis International Airport after he got off a plane and charged him with two counts of murder and two counts of robbery. Strode's initial court hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 29 at 9 a.m. (WTHR)
