Here are the top stories today in Indianapolis:

  1. An uncooperative witness lead to a murder charge being dropped against Theo Sanford, an Indianapolis man who was accused of killing Justin Bonds during an argument on the northeast side. Court records show that a key eyewitness repeatedly refused to show up to depositions and told prosecutors she had no intention of testifying at trial. Prosecutors had previously charged the witness with contempt of court and had her arrested earlier this year for failing to honor a subpoena. However, without her assistance, prosecutors were forced to dismiss the murder case last week. (WTTV CBS4Indy)
  2. The northeast side is getting a major overhaul thanks to a new project that will add lanes and reconfigure I-465 and I-69 interchanges. The Indiana Department of Transportation announced a two-contract, multiyear construction plan to improve traffic flow and safety, with the work set to begin in spring 2022. The Clear Path 465 project is slated for completion by the end of 2025. (WTTV CBS4Indy)
  3. Drug users have been blamed after an abandoned house at 224 Warman went up in flames on Sunday morning. (Fox 59)
  4. The Indianapolis International Airport has been outpacing the overall U.S. recovery, with more than two million people flying through the airport between July and Sept. (93.1 WIBC Indianapolis)
  5. Jacob W., the 12-year-old son of an IBEW 481 member, is the winner of the annual AES Indiana Coloring Contest and will get the chance to flip the switch on the Circle of Lights on Friday. (WTHR)
