Here are the top three stories today in Indianapolis:

  1. Nearly $5 million in counterfeit jewelry was seized in Indianapolis this month. U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents in Indianapolis seized three shipments recently of counterfeit designer jewelry, including one package which contained more than 1,700 pieces of fake jewelry bearing trademarks of several high-end brands. Had the three shipments been authentic, the jewelry's estimated value would have been $2,059,511. (WIBC - Indianapolis News & Politics)
  2. One person was shot and killed on the front porch of a family member’s home on the east side. On Wednesday morning, police were called to the 500 block of S. Emerson Avenue to investigate the deadly shooting. No arrests have been made at this time, however, police believe a man began loudly knocking on the door when someone inside the home opened fire.   3. A train derailed outside of Indianapolis on Tuesday morning. At around 11:45 a.m., two locomotives and six cars jumped the tracks in the Avon rail yard. So far, no cause has been determined and no injuries have been reported. (963xke.com)
