Here are the top stories in Indianapolis today:
- Damien Center, a nonprofit organization located just east of downtown, has been awarded $2M for a new housing assistance program for people living with HIV. The funds were awarded to the center on Wednesday by The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and are a part of $41 million in Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS competitive grants that HUD awarded to 20 local governments and non-profit organizations across the country. Damien Center will use the money to serve people 55 and older living with HIV as part of a new program called the Elder Housing Assistance Fund, which will combine the ideas of βhousing as healthcareβ and βfood as medicineβ movements. - Two more incidents were reported at a troubled north Indianapolis apartment complex. A Wednesday alarm marked 21 times this year IFD has been called to Lakeside Pointe for fire-related emergencies when they were called for a cooking-related fire which was contained to one unit. Within hours of each other, a shooting occurred at the complex and one person was brought to Eskenazi Hospital in stable condition. (WTHR)
- Indiana State Police have canceled a silver alert issued Thursday for a missing Indianapolis man. (WANE)
- A Lego-inspired pop-up bar, Brick Bar, is coming to Indianapolis for one night only on March 19, 2022. (WIBC - Indianapolis News & Politics)
- The man who stabbed two IMPD officers in an ambush early Wednesday morning says he planned the attack in retaliation for a large medical bill he felt wronged by and couldn't afford to pay. (Fox 59)
