Here are the top three stories in Indianapolis today:

  1. Dr. Jerome Adams, former U.S. Surgeon General and WISH-TV's medical expert, told News 8 viewers that the U.S. is on the way to its "new normal." Adams stated that while "we are not in an endemic state quite yet," he believes that "later this spring [or] earlier this summer ... we will be in a place where we can live with the virus." He also noted that this prediction is dependent on people "[continuing] to do their part to keep from overwhelming hospitals." (WISHTV.com)
  2. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has begun charging a fee for those who request their officers' body camera videos. The department, which has nearly 1,300 officers equipped with body cams, made the decision following a year of data collection and costs evaluations. State law permits public agencies to charge up to $150 for copies of law enforcement recordings. (wlfi.com)
  3. An Indianapolis man has died in a near east side house fire on Saturday. The road leading up to the residence was not plowed, and by the time firefighters arrived, flames were coming out of the front of the home. Officials believe the victim, a male in his mid-thirties, was already dead in his home by the time they arrived; however, the cause of fire and death remain under investigation. (Fox 59)
