- Westminster Neighborhood Services is expanding its reach amid the pandemic, essentially tripling the number of Indianapolis residents it can serve. For years, the nonprofit on East New York Street has served residents living within just one mile of their building, increasing food and health care access and providing a safe space for children of the neighborhood to play after school and during academic breaks. Now, their recently-expanded service area will encompass the entire near eastside. (The Indianapolis Star)
- A woman, a dog, and three cats died in a house fire on the west side of Indianapolis late Thanksgiving night. Fire crews from Wayne Township and Speedway responded to the home in the 1400 block of North Furman Avenue and found the woman inside; she was taken to the hospital and later passed away. Officials report that the pets inside the house also did not survive the fire, the cause of which is still under investigation. (The Indianapolis Star)
