INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- On the receiving end of an online fundraising effort is deserving local runner, Andrew Peterson, who in November became the second-ever Special Olympic athlete to qualify for the Boston Marathon.

Peterson made the cut last month when he crossed the Monumental Marathon finish line with a time of 2:57:33.

"He is only the second Special Olympic Athlete in history to qualify, with the fastest time ever!" says a Go Fund Me page that's gathering donations that will get him to Massachusetts. "We believe that such an elite achievement deserves some elite treatment. ... If you have been touched by Andrew's story like we have, please join in and help us send Andrew to Boston in style!"
