Here are the top stories in Indianapolis today:

  1. A suspect was arrested in an Interstate 70 wrong-way crash near the Rural St. and Keystone Ave. exit, shortly before 1:15 a.m on Friday morning. The wrong-way driver, later identified as 40-year-old Latasha Williams, struck a 2016 Jeep head-on and was not injured in the crash. The two adults and one juvenile who were in the Jeep were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. (WTHR)
  2. Ceasefire Weekend begins this Friday as organizers ask people to keep the peace and stop the violence for 72 hours. Ron Gee and Della Brown started this initiative about a month ago after seeing homicide rates continue to rise in the city. Community rallies and neighborhood clean-ups are scheduled for Friday and throughout the weekend. Several of the weekend’s events are planned specifically in areas of high crime while also targeting Halloween weekend, as organizers say more crime tends to happen during holiday periods. (Fox 59)
  3. On Thursday night, the IPS school board approved a pay raise for Indianapolis Public Schools teachers, which will go into effect on July 26. (WISHTV.com)
