Here are the top three stories in Indianapolis today:
- An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department veteran officer and her boyfriend have been charged for growing marijuana. IMPD Officer Christina Slack and Jamel Owens face two misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana. The officer has been suspended with a recommendation for termination to the Civilian Police Merit Board, IMPD says. (WISH TV Indianapolis, IN)
- Spirit Airlines has added a new once-daily flight from Indianapolis International Airport to Newark. Beginning Jun. 22, Hoosiers can get non-stop service to the New York City area year-round. The airline has also announced that beginning in May, Spirit will resume nonstop flights from Indy to Myrtle Beach β a route last served by the airline in 2019. (Inside INdiana Business)
- The Indianapolis Public Library central branch remains closed due to plumbing issues. Wednesday's closure marked day three for the library, which had to shut down because the plumbing issues took so many restrooms offline, they cannot be open to the public. Library officials don't know when the issue will be resolved; however, all other libraries remain open as normal. (CBS 4 Indianapolis)
