Here are the top stories today in Indianapolis:

  1. An Indianapolis man was sentenced to 78 years for his role in a 2018 deadly robbery at an east side motel. Damen Lake was convicted of murder, felony murder, three counts of armed robbery, and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon in October. Police say Lake along with other men demanded drugs at the Always Inn, and when William Simmons reached for a baseball bat, Lake shot him to death. (CBS 4 Indianapolis)
  2. Police say two Indianapolis men were arrested Tuesday after they stole medications from a CVS pharmacy. At about 2 a.m. Tuesday, the Hancock County 911 Center received a call about a robbery in progress at the CVS on State Street. The two suspects left the store as police arrived, police say. (Fox 59)
  3. The county corner's office ran out of money to investigate deaths because so many people in Indianapolis died this year. With deaths from homicides, drug overdoses, and COVID-19, the city had a lot of death this year, and the Marion County Coroner's Office began to run low on funds in October. The office needed to ask for more money to make it to the end of the year. (IndyStar)
