Here are the top three stories in Indianapolis today:

  1. The Indianapolis Urban League handed out 2,500 free COVID-19 home test kits on Tuesday. As a part of their food and meal distribution drive, the league made testing kits available on a first-come, first-served basis at 777 Indiana Avenue. During the 84th week of its drive-thru food and meal distribution, there were 22,840 pounds of bread, meat, dairy, and fresh produce, and families also received a case of Lysol disinfecting wipes. 2. A toddler accidentally shot himself inside his home on Indy’s near northwest side. At around 10:45 p.m. on Monday, police responded to 1900 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St. and say the parents of the child were driving the victim to a hospital when they saw an ambulance and flagged it down. The child was transported to Riley Hospital for Children and reportedly was critically wounded, but his condition was later upgraded. (Fox 59)
  3. An Indianapolis nonprofit is delivering pet food and supplies, free of charge, to low-income, homebound senior citizens so they can keep their furry companions and live comfortably. The Central Indiana Council on Aging, or CICOA, has launched an Aging and In-Home Solutions program, Meals & More, which has helped provide and deliver pet food to 100 individuals since it launched the service in December. The program is a grant partnership with Meals On Wheels and PetSmart Charities and aims to find ways to allow older adults, and people with disabilities to remain in their own homes versus being displaced and relocated to a different environment.
