Here are the top 3 stories in Indianapolis today:

  1. An upgraded bus route is coming to a downtown Indianapolis street that is also receiving improvements. The super stops will run along Delaware St, a stretch of roadway undergoing a $5 million overhaul. The City partnered with IndyGo to include the new transit option along the busy corridor. (WFYI)
  2. Christmas came early for residents of an Indy shelter, thanks to a student at Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis. "Operation Blessing Bags" provides residents of Salvation Army’s Ruth Lilly Women & Children’s Center with toiletries, blankets, toys, and more. After going through a difficult year brought on by the pandemic, IUPUI student Derek Mount rallied fellow students and friends to help out, raising enough money to fill 200 bags. (WANE)
  3. A 69-year-old man is dead after the moped he was driving collided with a car about 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve on the Far Southside. An eyewitness told Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers that a black sedan was traveling south on State Road 135 and turned left at a yellow light at East Thompson Road when it was hit by a red moped traveling north. The moped operator died within 20 minutes of his arrival at Eskenazi Hospital. No intoxication is suspected at this time; the sedan's driver who was not injured stayed at the crash scene with police.
