Here are the top three stories today in Indianapolis:
- Daylight savings time beings next Sunday, which means sunset and sunrise times in Indianapolis will change. Beginning March 13, the clock will spring forward and sunsets will happen later in the evening. On March 13, Hoosiers will gain roughly 26 minutes of daylight, and the sun will set at 7:49 p.m. (FOX 59 Indianapolis)
- In the first two months of 2022, Indy's murder rate has been decreasing. In 2021, 43 people had been murdered by the end of February in Indianapolis β this year, that number has dropped to 32. There has been a decrease in non-fatal shootings as well, with 77 survivors being shot in 2022, compared to 108 people shot last year at the end of February. (WIBC - Indianapolis News & Politics)
- An Indianapolis man was indicted after police found 19 firearms, two kilos of cocaine, and $90K cash at his home. 25-year-old Dreshaun Carter was indicted by a federal grand jury for charges including distribution of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and intent to distribute cocaine, among others. Carter could face up to life in prison if he is convicted for either possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine or fentanyl. (FOX 59 Indianapolis)
