Here are the top three stories in Indianapolis today:
- Indianapolis' Kan-Kan Cinema is sending proceeds from upcoming screenings to the people of Ukraine. Zina Kumok reached out to Daniel Jacobson, her friend as well as the programming director at the Kan-Kan, to screen a documentary about the 2014 Maidan revolution to provide context for current events. All proceeds from the screening of "Maidan" will be donated to Razom, a nonprofit currently providing medical supplies to injured Ukrainians. (WTHR)
- If it seems like everyone's moving a bit slower on I-465, there's a good reason: the speed limit for I-465 between the Keystone Avenue and East 56th Street exits has been reduced to 45 MPH. The slowdown, announced yesterday by the Indiana Department of Transportation, is in preparation for construction on Clear Path 465. The project is designed to improve traffic flow and safety on I-465 as well as on I-69. (FOX 59 Indianapolis)
- A spelling discrepancy reportedly let a parolee at Marion County Jail out on a $500 bond β just weeks before he was charged with shooting a first-year IMPD officer. 31-year-old Mylik Hill, who is charged with two counts of attempted murder, was previously arrested for theft and resisting law enforcement on Jan. 31. The court was reportedly unaware Hill was on parole, which officials believe to be due to a spelling discrepancy when he was initially booked. (FOX 59 Indianapolis)
