Here are the top three stories today in Indianapolis:
- On Wednesday, a body was found in an abandoned building in Indianapolis. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were dispatched to a building in the 3800 block of N. Emerson Avenue in reference to a stabbing and found the body of a male in the building's basement. Homicide detectives are investigating and at this time, it is unclear how the man died. - An Indianapolis organization is working to empower neighborhoods with resident-led workshops and storytelling. The Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Centerβs 11th annual Neighbor Power Indy is offering both in-person and virtual events, with workshops running through March 12. Roughly 400 neighborhood and community leaders and activists are expected to take part. (WFYI)
- Compared to 2020, carjackings in 2021 rose by 40 percent in Indianapolis. Data shows that 52 percent of the suspects involved in the carjackings between January to August of 2021 were juveniles. Of those juveniles, 36 percent were barely old enough to drive. (FOX 59 Indianapolis)
