Here are the top three stories today in Indianapolis:
- If you're looking for a COVID rapid test in Indianapolis, you may be out of luck. Neither the state department of health nor county health departments have received rapid test shipments since the end of December 2021. With demand radically outweighing supply, healthcare workers have been provided guidelines on how to prioritize testing. (Fox 59)
- Two people were injured in a shooting at an Indianapolis party just after midnight on Sunday morning. According to police, a group of juveniles was partying at the location when a shooter opened fire; two injured victims fled when police arrived. Officers found both of the victims, who were later taken to the hospital; one was listed in stable condition, while another was said to be "awake and breathing." (Fox 59)
- On Saturday morning, Marion County deputies began the process of transferring inmates to a new $600 million jail and court complex on Indy's southeast side. To keep the transfer safe for all involved, inmates are being moved in a "heavily secured motorcade" and escorted by "numerous" deputies; identifying information on the inmates and their route is also being kept confidential. Approximately 2,200 general population inmates, currently at two old county jails, are scheduled to move to the new facility by the end of January. (WTHR)
