Here are the top stories today in Indianapolis:

  1. A teen driver is in custody after he led officers on a chase in a stolen car through downtown Indianapolis on Thursday. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers tried to pull the car over, but say the driver took off and led them on a pursuit that ended at the intersection of Drover St. and Oliver Ave. on the near west side. The driver then took off and ran from the car, but police were able to catch up with him and he has was taken into custody at a juvenile detention center. (Fox 59)
  2. New playgrounds are among some improvements planned for 27 parks by the city of Indianapolis using federal funds. The city plans to spend $16.5 million from The American Rescue Plan to replace playgrounds and improve basketball and tennis courts across the city, after the Indianapolis City-County council voted unanimously to spend the money at parks that were most in need of renovations. The federal funding will also help facilitate Wi-Fi services at 20 parks through a new pilot program. (WFYI)
  3. The Mikado Japanese Restaurant announced on Wednesday that they will be closing in Dec. after 23 years in the city, but the owners will be starting a "new project" soon. (The Indianapolis Star)
  4. Trick-or-treat hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 31 in Indianapolis this year, at which time all 43 of the Indianapolis Fire Department stations will host trick-or-treating. (WFYI)
  5. In a partnership with Broadway in Indianapolis to celebrate Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the Sun King Brewery will be presenting special offerings on Thursday to mark the 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' shows coming to Indianapolis next week. (WTHR)
