- A resident living in a southside nursing home has been charged with rape and murder against a female resident living in the same nursing home. 60-year-old Dwayne Freeman of Indianapolis was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the death of 80-year-old Patricia Newnum, who was killed on Feb. 2 at the Homestead Healthcare Center, located at 7465 Madison Avenue. Freemanβs initial hearing was scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Marion County Superior Court. (WISH-TV)
- Thieves broke into an Indianapolis church twice in four days, stealing roughly $10,000 worth of sound equipment. Derrick Howell-McQueen, the pastor at Powerhouse Church of Indy, discovered the initial robbery on Tuesday when he walked into the sanctuary to find a broken window, the security system ripped out of the wall, and missing equipment. While waiting for the security system to get fixed, Howell-McQueen walked in on another broken window on Friday, stating that it appears the suspects who had originally taken the equipment came back for what they had left scattered throughout the property during the first robbery.
