Here are the top three stories in Indianapolis today:

  1. On Saturday, a 34-year-old man died from injuries he sustained as a 2-month-old on the west side in 1988. The injuries came from then-22-year-old John Coleman, who was charged and convicted of felony battery resulting in serious bodily injury. The victim, Patrick Mitchell, died from injuries as a result of the 1988 incident on Feb. 12, 2022, and his death has been ruled a homicide. (MSN)
  2. Indianapolis is looking at a new mass transit project to provide access to jobs and healthcare for those in low-income areas. The Indianapolis Public Transit Corporation’s $188 million Purple Line, a 15-mile bus rapid transit, or BRT, system will run from downtown to the neighboring city of Lawrence in an effort to transform an underinvested corridor through economic development. The project is scheduled to start construction this month. (NBC)
  3. Although The Snake Pit is back for the 2022 Indianapolis 500, there are some changes to prepare for. According to Indianapolis Motor Speedway, coolers, CamelBaks, and β€œother similar water containers” are not allowed into the concert area due to space issues. Instead, attendees may bring a one-liter-sized container that must be sealed or empty, and can be filled at hydration stations which will be found on site. (WISH-TV)
