Here are the top stories in Indianapolis today:
- An Indianapolis non-profit organization, RecycleForce, broke ground on its new Sherman Park area facility on Wednesday, with the hopes to help more people recently released from prison and jail. The organization provides work, specifically work involving recycling old electronics, and paid job training to people newly released from prison or jail. RecycleForce gives paid training like forklift operations and OSHA certifications, and they also pay while workers get mental health and addiction services. (Fox 59)
- The Heartland International Film Festival is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Over the years, the festival has grown from a four-day festival showing around 20 films to an eleven-day festival showing around 160 films. Senior Programmer at Heartland Film Julia Ricci said the festival brings in more than 100 filmmakers and for many, itβs their first time in the Midwest, and their first time seeing their film on the big screen with an audience. - A Montana-based AI consulting services startup, Atrium, is opening a new space in downtown Indianapolis and plans to create nearly 40 jobs by the end of 2023. (WISHTV.com)
- Speedway Oktoberfest is bringing motorsports, food, and entertainment together in Indianapolis on Oct. 15th. (Fox 59)
