“If you’re going to be starting something up, you need to know, what can I do? What can I not do?” McKinnor said of legal questions that new business owners typically have. “Business owners really don’t know what they don’t know.”
Marketing, and particularly social media, is always a favorite topic. SCORE mentors and entrepreneurs alike constantly ponder who their customers are, she said.
“It all depends on your clientele,” McKinnor said. “Not every business is for TikTok or Instagram or Facebook.”
Participant surveys completed at previous SCORE events help drive future topics, McKinnor said.
Speakers include:
- Dayna Offutt, a SCORE Indianapolis subject matter expert on digital marketing and publishing, is a digital creator/publisher and educator with more than 20 years of expertise in digital media and entrepreneurship. She teaches students how to use digital marketing to build an online presence.
- SCORE client Jean Lee, of Carmel, is the founder of the Midwest Homeschool Expo and The Academy of Chaos. Lee will lead a mini mind mapping session on marketing, providing tips about how to market your business in other ways besides social media.
