Here are the top three stories in Indianapolis today:

  1. Traffic detours and possible delays will begin today to accommodate the new construction project that will replace a bridge over Derbyshire Creek. East Banta Road is expected to be closed between Derbyshire Road and Twin Brooks Drive starting today. New guardrails and pavement approaches on either side of the bridge are expected to increase the service life of the bridge by 75 years. (Fox 59)
  2. A fire at Stone Lake Apartments displaced several Indianapolis families over the weekend. The Indianapolis Fire Department was called to the 2800 block of Clear Lake Way at 9 p.m. on Saturday. Each of the 12 units at the apartment building was affected by the fire, with three of them inflicted with heavy fire and the rest by smoke or water damage. The department is investigating the cause of the fire. (Fox 59)
  3. A group of Indianapolis moms who lost loved ones to violence created a support group called A Mother's Cry. The group meets every month to share stories, eat good food, and receive support. Organizers hope the group will help to empower mothers to make changes to their community to prevent more women from walking through their doors. (WTHR)
