Suspect Shoots Indianapolis Police Officer On City's SE Side
An 11-year veteran of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was shot Wednesday while trying to serve a search warrant.

INDIANAPOLIS — An officer who was shot Wednesday afternoon while trying to serve a search warrant was listed in good condition and was set to be released from the hospital later that evening, according to reports.
The 11-year Indianapolis Metropolitan Police veteran was shot in the forearm around 2 p.m. on the city's southeast side, according to The Indy Channel news. The incident reportedly occurred near Harlan Street and Spann Avenue.
"The suspect, who IMPD identified Wednesday night as 39-year-old Christopher Johnson, was also shot and was transported to the hospital in critical condition," the story says.

U.S. News and World Report indicated that Johnson allegedly fired multiple shots at on-scene officers.
"Police spokesman Sgt. Christopher Wilburn tells The Indianapolis Star that the home where the warrant was being served is believed to be connected to narcotics dealing and there were multiple people inside at the time of the shooting," the publication reported.
