A swimming pool disaster led to a $90,000 Thanksgiving surprise for an Indianapolis great-grandmother. 80-year-old Kitty Smith spent her life savings on her dream home so she could host her 29 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but after a major snowstorm in February, her dreams were shattered when she discovered the walls of her in-ground pool had collapsed. Over the past few months, Michael Shebek, the owner of Westfield-based Automatic Pool Covers, has rallied a group of eight Indiana companies to come together to solve Smith’s backyard dilemma by offering to replace her collapsed pool with a brand new one, at no cost to her.   2. While the holiday celebrations can be stressful, experts are advising families to "try not to argue too much," but rather, focus on fun. Eskenazi Health psychiatrist Dr. Heather Fretwell suggests trying "not to get caught up in any of the frenzy that can accompany the holidays and just make meaningful choices."
