The first project, Snowy Owl Commons Development, focuses on affordable housing for elderly individuals, consisting of 25 duplexes with two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments and amenities. The second project, Third Street Development, plans to construct traditional single-family homes and row-style townhomes on a 2.88-acre plot to accommodate the uneven terrain and elevation change in the area. - A dog belonging to a man on home detention attacked a Tippecanoe County Community Correction officer on Thursday, resulting in the officer shooting the dog. The incident occurred during a check on Tristan Ray Sammons, 26, at his apartment in Lafayette. The dog was wounded but not seriously injured, and Sammons was subsequently arrested for suspicion of violating his home detention. (Journal & Courier)
- Montrell Dionte Jolly, a 33-year-old man from Lafayette, is facing a murder charge in connection with the death of 4-year-old Ke'andre Jolly. The incident occurred on Jul. 28 when police responded to an unresponsive child report, and Ke'andre later died at Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis. An autopsy revealed the preliminary cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head, and Montrell claimed he disciplined Ke'andre with wall sits for putting his shoes on the wrong feet and later found the child unresponsive with blood in his mouth.
