- On International Overdose Awareness Day (Aug. 31), Tippecanoe County took measures to enhance safety for both drug users and non-users. The Indiana Center for Recovery is collaborating with Overdose Lifeline to provide overdose rescue kits containing Narcan and fentanyl testing strips, available 24/7 for public use. The initiative aims to promote awareness and preparedness, emphasizing the importance of ensuring safety for all individuals, whether they are users or not, in the face of the opioid crisis. (WLFI)
- A man named William Wadley, age 27, has been charged with intimidation and unlawful possession of a firearm after allegedly threatening a witness cooperating with a 4-year-old's murder investigation in the 800 block of North 13th Street. The victim reported that Wadley entered his apartment, brandishing a firearm and threatening his life. This apartment was where 4-year-old Ke'andre Jolly was found unresponsive last month, leading to the murder charges against his cousin, Montrell Jolly, for disciplining the child, ultimately resulting in his death from blunt force head injuries. (WLFI)
- A 26-year-old man from Lafayette, Austen Nikolas Coors, was arrested after police found fentanyl pills twice at his residence during the summer. Coors was initially contacted by officers based on a tip about his alleged involvement in fentanyl dealing. He admitted to dealing and led officers to his house, where a significant quantity of fentanyl pills was discovered. Coors faces multiple charges, including drug dealing and possession.
