- Crew Car Wash is rescheduling its annual Big Brothers Big Sisters fundraiser due to weather conditions. The 14th annual event, in partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Lafayette, will now take place on Jul. 22. Half of the proceeds from "ultimate washes" at Crew's Greater Lafayette locations will be donated to the nonprofit during their extended opening hours from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on the rescheduled date. - Tami Jacobs has been appointed as the new principal of Wea Ridge Elementary School in Tippecanoe School Corporation (TSC), starting today, Jul. 17. She will be replacing Clint Wilson, who is moving to New Castle Community School Corporation. Before this role, Jacobs was an assistant principal at Burnett Creek Elementary School for six years and has experience as a teacher in Lafayette and TSC. She holds a bachelor's degree from Purdue University and a master's from Ball State University. (wlfi.com)
- On Wednesday, Jul. 12, a crash occurred on the Hoosier Heartland Highway and Tippecanoe County Road 750 East involving two vehicles. Jackson Karberg, 18, failed to yield at the state highway, resulting in a collision with an eastbound flatbed wrecker driven by Joseph Cotrell, 48. Two teenagers in Karberg's vehicle were airlifted to Indianapolis hospitals, one in critical condition and the other in serious condition, while a 14-year-old boy received non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The incident is currently under investigation by the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office. (Journal & Courier)
