  1. Wabash Township is facing a $289,500 expense to upgrade its fire department's radios by 2025, leading Trustee Angel Valentín to propose sharing public safety income tax revenue from cities and the county to contribute $250,000 towards this. Approval from two out of three councils — Tippecanoe County Council, Lafayette City Council, and West Lafayette City Council — is required for the funds to be allocated. Although the Sep. 1 deadline for action will pass without change, Valentín continues to seek avenues for funding and is considering increasing the tax rate from 0.18 percent to 0.2 percent to generate additional revenue. (Journal & Courier)
  2. The sixth annual Art, Bark and Brew event, held at the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette's parking lot on South Tenth Street, drew both the community and dogs. Attendees enjoyed lunch from the EMT Food Truck, drinks from local breweries, art activities, keepsakes for dogs, and live entertainment. The event, which showcased strong community involvement, was expanded compared to previous years, reflecting Lafayette's enthusiasm for pets and community engagement. (WLFI)
  3. Lafayette police and the Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office responded to a call in the 700 block of Union Street after a report of a 1-year-old boy not breathing. The call was received around 1:35 p.m. on Monday. Neither the coroner's office nor the police have further details to share at this time. (Journal & Courier)
