- Starting Sep. 1, the payment drop box inside Lafayette City Hall for the Utility Billing Office won't be accessible outside regular business hours. This change is due to restricted access resulting from the Lafayette Police Department's relocation to the new Public Safety Center. Payments during non-business hours can be deposited in the City Hall's West Alley drop box 24/7. (Journal & Courier)
- The City of Lafayette is commencing the construction of a new solar field that will power a portion of the city's wastewater infrastructure. This solar project, the third of its kind owned by the city, will be located at the Lafayette Renew wastewater treatment plant. Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski highlighted the city's commitment to renewable energy, with plans for further solar arrays at other locations, aligning with the Greater Lafayette Climate Action Plan's target of a 58 percent reduction in emissions by 2030. (WLFI)
- Less than a month ahead of WLFI's second First Responders Safety Giving Day, local first responders are highlighting the impact of viewer contributions. Thanks to donations through Hero Fund USA, facilitated by WLFI's telethon last year, the West Lafayette Fire Department acquired three SENSIT gas leak detectors and calibration sets. These new devices enhance safety by measuring various gases, including carbon monoxide, aiding in firefighting and ensuring safe atmospheric conditions. The department emphasized the importance of these upgrades in maintaining public and firefighter safety and expressed gratitude for the support received from the community. (WLFI)
