🌱 Man Charged For Shooting Transformer + Six Teens Arrested

  1. A Lafayette man was arrested after allegedly shooting a transformer at a SLEMCO substation in St. Martinville. The law, criminal damage to a critical infrastructure, carries a lengthy prison sentence of up to 20 years and a $25,000 fine. According to the St. Martin's Parish Sheriff's Office, the damaged transformer will cost nearly $20,000. (KPEL965)
  2. Six teenagers were arrested early Saturday morning on suspicion they stole a couple's car. According to reports, a couple was in Lafayette from Iowa helping their son move and left their parked car on the street overnight when they noticed flashing lights. The couple then witnessed them enter the car and drive away, leaving police to find the stolen car. (Journal & Courier)
  3. During a fight on Sunday night at the Waterfront Apartments in West Lafayette, a man was arrested for firing a shot. According to Police reports, the 37-year-old pointed a gun at people in a car when officers were called. Police arrested the shooter for several preliminary charges, including criminal recklessness while shooting a gun into an inhabited building. (WLFI)
