- Police are searching for a motorcyclist involved in two separate shootings that occurred on Thursday night. The initial incident took place in the 400 block of North 18th Street, where animal control officers witnessed the motorcyclist firing shots at two other individuals on motorcycles. Shortly after, additional gunshots were reported in the 700 block of South 27th Street, causing damage to a nearby residence; fortunately, no injuries were reported in either incident. Although the suspect remains at large, authorities have assured that there is no immediate threat to the public. (wlfi.com)
- A Lafayette man, 23-year-old Christian Dodson-Walker, has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run incident involving a child near State Road 38 and Poplar Lane. The incident occurred when a group of children was attempting to cross the road, resulting in a nine-year-old boy being struck and left with minor injuries. Dodson-Walker was later found by officers, who discovered marijuana in plain view inside the suspect vehicle; he has since been released from the Tippecanoe County Jail. (wlfi.com)
- The Tippecanoe School Corporation (TSC) is introducing Tippecanoe Online Academy, its third high school, to cater to students in grades 9-12 with diverse learning needs. The academy, accredited by the state, aims to serve students within the TSC and offer a flexible, personalized online learning environment. Notably, it differentiates itself by having TSC teachers who are certified in online instruction from Arizona State University and will provide students with a learning success coach for support. The enrollment application for the 2024-25 school year is set to open in November, with an initial enrollment limit of 300 students. (Tippecanoe School Corporation)
