  1. David Trevino and Adrian Suarez, two men from Texas, are awaiting formal charges in connection with the killing of Jordan Angel Lee Loveall. Loveall was shot during a marijuana sale gone wrong in Lafayette. Trevino and Suarez were planning to rob Loveall of the marijuana, but Loveall drew his own firearm when confronted by Trevino, leading to a confrontation that resulted in gunshots. Suarez was arrested shortly afterward, while Trevino was found later at a friend's house. Loveall died from multiple gunshot wounds, and autopsy results are pending toxicology reports.   2. A man has been fatally shot during a drug deal in Lafayette, leading to the arrest of two individuals on Felony Murder charges. The incident occurred on Friday night, and officers responded to a shooting report at the 2000 block of Roosevelt Street. The victim, who had arranged to purchase illegal drugs, was confronted and attempted to be robbed by the suspects, identified as David Trevino and Adrian Suarez. Trevino and Suarez were both apprehended and taken into custody, facing charges of Felony Murder. (Fox 59)
  3. Purdue University held its summer 2023 Commencement with two ceremonies honoring over 1,500 students, marking the 250th commencement in the university's history. Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb delivered a keynote speech during the afternoon session, while the morning ceremony featured Joe Watkins, co-founder of the successful startup Socio. The graduates included various degree levels and were recognized for their achievements, with the university celebrating its rich history and traditions. (Purdue University)
