2. Fire hazard: Keep those real Christmas trees watered (wsbt.com) — South Bend residents keeping real Christmas trees into the new year are urged to keep them well-watered and away from open flames to avoid fire hazards. 3. Winter viruses spreading across Michiana as multiple illnesses circulate (wndu.com) — Multiple respiratory and stomach viruses are currently circulating in South Bend, sidelining many residents with flu, COVID-19, RSV, norovirus and more at the same time. Local health officials explain how symptoms differ, stress that it’s not too late for a flu shot, and note that treatments like Paxlovid and Theraflu are options for higher‑risk people.
