1. 22 South Bend area eateries with priority health violations; 75 perfect inspections (southbendtribune.com) — If you eat out around South Bend, November’s health inspections brought 22 priority violations and 75 perfect scores across restaurants, groceries and schools. Several South Bend spots, including Mandarin House and Okasan Ramen and Bao, were cited for temperature and food storage issues, while many others in Mishawaka, Granger, Walkerton and Notre Dame earned clean reports. Follow-up inspections are planned in about 30 days.
   

2. South Bend Man Sentenced to 180 Months in Prison For Controlled Substance Offense (wimsradio.com) — A 31-year-old South Bend resident has been sentenced in federal court to 15 years in prison plus 10 years of supervised release for repeatedly selling methamphetamine in South Bend. Federal agents and St. Joseph County Police investigated the four controlled buys, which involved roughly two pounds of meth. No local public safety changes were announced, but the case underscores ongoing drug enforcement here.
   

3. South Bend Police take over investigation of Mishawaka hostage case (southbendtribune.com) — South Bend Police’s Violent Crimes Unit is now leading the investigation into a Mishawaka hostage standoff where three adults and two juveniles were rescued and the suspect was shot and hospitalized. Authorities say no hostages were injured, and South Bend took over under an interlocal agreement with Mishawaka and St. Joseph County police.
   

4. Brick of Hope Ministries hosts winter clothes drive for community in need (wndu.com) — South Bend’s Brick of Hope Ministries teamed up with local partners to hand out more than 150 washed and wrapped sweatshirts, jackets, and toys to neighbors needing winter gear. Using items from John Glenn School Corporation’s lost and found, volunteers highlighted growing demand as benefits shrink, and the ministry now hopes to buy a truck to reach more rural Michiana communities with weekly food distributions.
   

5. Riley High School bowler rolls perfect 300 game (wndu.com) — A Riley High School sophomore in South Bend just rolled a perfect 300 game, capping the local high school bowling regular season with a rare achievement. With no seniors on the roster, the Wildcats now turn their attention to sectionals Jan. 10-11, hoping this young squad can make a deep run toward state this year and next.
