South Bend Schools to vote on superintendent's one year contract worth nearly $300k (wsbt.com) — South Bend families should know the school board will vote January 12, 2026, on a one-year contract extension for Superintendent Mansour Eid worth nearly $300,000 in salary and benefits. The proposal includes a $212,321 base salary, car allowance, retirement contributions, and insurance, with the contract running through June 20, 2027 if approved.
   

3. Braun applauds new regional-led innovation development district in South Bend (wishtv.com) — State leaders are backing a major Tech and Talent Hub in downtown South Bend that’s projected to add more than 400 high-tech jobs and $750 million in economic impact over the next decade. Breaking: Suspect in SWAT incident faces multiple charges after five people held hostage (wsbt.com) — A recent SWAT standoff in the South Bend area ended with five hostages, including two children, rescued unharmed and the suspect hospitalized in critical condition. Prosecutors say the man now faces multiple serious charges after officers used an explosive device to breach a barricaded bedroom and exchanged gunfire. South Bend Police are leading the investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
