Heat Advisory Declared: This Week in Hot, Hot, Hot Iowa City Weather

It should be hot and humid all week this week, with heat indexes hitting the triple digits.

Now this is the August weather we're all used to enjoying. I knew we were being set up for a disappointment a few weeks ago with those temperatures in the 70s.

Iowa weather! (shakes fist)

The National Weather Service has already declared a heat advisory for much of Eastern Iowa, including Iowa City, extending at the moment through 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Iowa City School District has already reacted to this, declaring a two-hour early dismissal on Monday.

A large area of hot and humid air building over the plains will spread over Eastern Iowa, Northeast Missouri and Western Illinois Monday and tuesday. Temperatures will reach well into the 90s, with heat index values from 100 to 104 during the afternoon and early evening hours Monday and Tuesday. Conditions will remain warm and muggy through the overnight hours as well.

Here's the NWS Forecast for Iowa City. Looks like a hot game day in Iowa City.
