Iowa City Police Investigating Robbery Monday Morning

The incident reportedly occurred in the early morning hours near Varsity Cleaners.

On Monday September 2, 2013 at approximately 1:22 A.M. Iowa City Police responded to a report of a robbery that occurred near Varsity Cleaners.

The victim reported that two black males approached him and demanded his wallet, cellular phone and keys. During the robbery, one of the males struck the victim in the back of the head. Medical treatment was not needed. Officers flooded the area looking for suspects. An Iowa City Police K-9 was deployed in an attempt to track the suspect. The K-9 team assisted in locating the victim's keys and telephone.

The suspects were described as two black males, one with short hair and one with a bandana on his face. Both of the males were dressed in dark colored clothing. 
The Iowa City Police Department is currently investigating the Robbery and is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspects. Iowa City Area Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000 for information leading to the arrest of these suspects.
