As one of music's most respected and influential singer-songwriters, Hiatt's songs have been covered by a variety of artists in multiple genres, including Bob Dylan, Ry Cooder, Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt, Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Willie Nelson, and many more. The Los Angeles Times has called Hiatt "one of rock's most astute singer-songwriters of the last 40 years."
